How Far will it Go

How Far will it Go

So I’m about to roll 60k miles on my 2012 Street Glide. I have had it for 2.5 years. As I mentioned before, this is my first Harley and I am the first in my family history to ride a Harley and I am still curious as to how far will it go?

  1. I was leery about "cost of ownership" when I was thinking of getting a Harley. I had read and did some research. I'm on my second Harley. First was a 2004 Sportster 1200 Custom. Only had twp issues. Spring plate exploded and had to replace the clutch pack. About $120 in parts. Second was the rear brake master cylinder. Got a rebuild kit for about $30. Both were common issues on that particular bike and the research and fixes were in forums. I felt pretty good with that. I rode it about 16,000 miles in about a year and those were the only real problems.
I now have a 2012 Road King. Got it in April. I've put over 10,000 miles. I've done my maintenance (with help from your site) and I've only had one issue. Regulator/rectifier quit on me. Easy 2 bolts, 2 plugs and about $120. I've been pretty happy with my experience and think, like you said, the Harleys of old were the reason for all the longevity concerns.
Thanks again for all the posts. Some have come in handy for a reference.
